H&M Fall Staple Items

Thursday, October 18, 2018

H&M always has great deals, but right now they have up to 80% off on select items! Below I picked some of my top fall stable items, some of which are on sale!

*Black skinny jeans are a must for fall/winter months. You can wear them with flats or boots and they always look more polished than regular jeans.

*Blouses are also very versatile since you can wear them alone or with a cardigan or blazer on top. I love a good printed blouse, as well!

*Neutral sweaters/cardigans are a crucial for mixing and matching for different looks. You can also layer them with a simple black tank.

*Lastly, how cute are those cross body bags! I can't get over the faux suede and how luxe it looks! Perfect for a night out and can fit everything you need!

ModCloth Festive Clothing

Monday, September 24, 2018

I'm not much of a Halloween fan, but I do love fall! I recently was looking at ModCloth because Jillian Harris mentioned a skull cardigan similar to a popular one sold last year. I never shopped on ModCloth before, but I found that they have a lot of festive clothing for holidays! I thought this might be interesting to some of my teacher friends who might want to dress "festive, but cute" for Halloween- or anyone that just likes Halloween!

Fall Wedding Guest Dress

Wednesday, September 12, 2018

After attending four weddings this past summer, I think I have a good idea of where to look for an "on trend" affordable wedding guest dress. So far, my favorite place to look for special occasion dresses is ASOS. They have a great selection with all price ranges! They usually offer frequent sales and free returns, so you can always order a few sizes if you're not sure what works best for you (they offer Tall and Petite, as well.)

Below are my favorite Fall Wedding Guest Dress picks! Every dress is under $100 and is perfect for any event in the next couple of months. I love fall florals, burgundy, navy, and some pops of color!

Affordable Work Wear

Friday, August 24, 2018

After receiving my first "work wear" trunk I thought I would try to find similar pieces, but at a better price! Below you can find great options that can transition you from summer to fall!

Trunk Club

Monday, August 20, 2018

After hearing about Trunk Club from so many instragrammers, I thought I would give it a shot! I looked into the company, they are a Nordstrom company, and figured out how it worked. Here are the basic things you need to know about Trunk Club;

1. Once you sign up you get picked a stylist.  Your stylist sends a Trunk of handpicked clothing straight to your door. You'll receive an itemized preview email first. Once you sign off on your stylist's selections, your Trunk will be shipped and you'll then have five days to try everything on, and determine what you want to keep and send back.

2. When you first sign up you'll have consultation with your stylist. You'll first take an in depth survey on your current style, what you're looking to find, sizing, etc. Once the survey is finished your stylist will message you with more questions, if need be.

3. With my first Trunk I wanted it to be more "work wear." I tend to often buy weekend/casual clothes, when in reality I need to start investing on good work wear items that I can mix and match throughout my wardrobe.

4. Pricing: Beyond the cost of clothing, Trunks have a $25 styling fee that's credited toward whatever you purchase.

Here are the items I received below! I'm a Small in all the tops and dresses, size 6 in the dress pants and size 4 in the jeans. You can find an in depth try on session saved to my Instagram highlights under "style."

Master Bedroom Artwork

Wednesday, August 15, 2018

So we have lived in our house for a little over a year now, time has flown by! Luckily, we didn't have to do any major updating. The main thing was repainting, using the original homeowners paint colors, and changing the color in the Master Bedroom. That is one tip I have for new homeowners, if you like the current paint colors have the sellers leave the paint cans so you can repurchase the exact color. We also got lucky and ended up at the same hardware store as the sellers and their paint colors were in the system under their name, which made it easy to look up by specific room.

After we painted our bedroom from periwinkle blue to a classic white, I finally decided I'm ready to put some things on the wall. Our home is a cape located on the CT shoreline and I'd like to keep the coastal feel throughout the house. I've noticed these prints on pinterest, instagram etc. and I finally located the exact ones I wanted on Etsy! They are digital prints so you just purchase, download, and print! The frames are from Michaels, I got them 40% off and used another coupon on top of that (they always have some kind of sale going on.)

We don't have a headboard yet, I can't get myself to commit to one, so this artwork is a good focal point in the room! I like that it's coastal, clean and ties the room together.

Summer Makeup (Oily Skin)

Tuesday, June 12, 2018

With warm weather on the rise means a new makeup routine to keep it from melting off! If you have oily/combination skin (especially in the summer) this post is for you!

I'm still on the hunt for the best affordable oil free primer, but I have used the Makeup Forever matte primer and it's perfect for the summer months (just pricey.)

Foundation: I am currently LOVING Covergirl's new Trublend Matte foundation. It's super affordable, comes in 40 shades and keeps my makeup looking great in hot weather! I recently put it to the test when I wore it to a wedding that turned out to be 85 degrees during the daytime. It lasted all day/night and I didn't have to touch up once! Another tried and true summer foundation for me is the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless liquid foundation. It has great coverage and keeps me oil free all day. I apply my foundations with a brush or beauty sponge, my favorite affordable sponge is by Real Techniques. PS- make sure you wet/dampen your sponge before applying your products!

Setting Powder: For oily skin it's key to set your foundation/concealer. It keeps your makeup set and gives you a flawless finish. I've used the Laura Mercier translucent setting powder for years, but it is expensive. I am interested in trying the new Hourglass setting powder, but for now I've been using the most affordable product on the market. It's the Airspun loose setting powder and you can get it at Walmart or Walgreen's. It's under $10 and you get a ton of product! I like the translucent powder the best because it doesn't change the color of my foundation/concealer. Again, I can't emphasize enough the importance of a setting powder, it's a game changer!

Austin, TX Trip

Friday, May 11, 2018

I recently went on vacation to Austin, TX. You may be thinking, why Texas? Do you have family there? That is literally what everyone asked me, haha. The answer is, we just wanted to go! My boyfriend visited Austin last year for a bachelor party and he said it was a great city. Lets face it, living in New England all winter can be a little depressing, so I didn't care where I went- as long as it was warm.

We stayed there for 5 days and packed a lot into the trip! Before we left I did a lot of research on the city- where to eat, best places for happy hour, shopping, etc. Luckily I got a lot of info from some lovely Austin bloggers. The Darling Detail had great recommendations! I highly recommend researching a new city before you go, it helps plan out your trip a little better.

Below I wanted to include every place we hit up and why it was so great! If you end up visiting Austin, I hope this post is a good tool for you!

Sunday
Lunch-Hopdoddy: Best place for burgers & fries! The truffle fries were AMAZING!
Coffee-Manana: Possibly the best cold brew I've ever had!
Drinks- Parlor Room, Unbarlieviable (legit out of a movie, such a cool bar!), Container bar. These are all located on 6th Street in downtown Austin.
